In Westmorland and Furness, you do not need to book a time slot to visit a Household Waste Recycling Centre (HWRC) if you are in a standard car. You can turn up freely during opening hours. However, a permit system (not a booking system) is required for Vans and Trailers. Permit - Phone Application: 0300 373 3300.

- Winter Hours (Nov-Mar): Typically reduces to 08:00 - 16:00 (check seasonal shift dates).
- Permits: Required for vans, pickups, and trailers over 2m. Pedestrians require a 'Pedestrian Permit' for entry.
- Proof of Residency: Although historically lax, it is advised to bring a Council Tax bill as per Westmorland and Furness policy.
