In the Highland Council area, you do not need to book a time slot if you are visiting a Household Waste Recycling Centre (HWRC) in a standard car. You can simply turn up during opening hours.However, a mandatory booking system is in place for vans and trailers at the larger, busier sites.

Important Site Rules
- Cars: No booking is required. You can turn up during opening hours.
- Vans and Trailers: Booking is mandatory. You must book your slot at least 48 hours in advance.
- Restrictions: Bookings for vans/trailers are usually limited to once per week per vehicle. DIY waste (rubble, plasterboard, etc.) is generally not permitted if you are using a van or trailer.
- Last entry is often 10–15 minutes before closing to allow for offloading.
