- Mandatory Booking: Access is strictly by pre-booked appointment only. You must book via the council website or Bin-ovation app. No walk-ins are permitted.
- Resident Only: Site is for the use of Ards and North Down residents only. Photo ID and proof of residency must be shown at the gate.
- Limited Waste Streams: Portavogie is a smaller 'community' site. While it accepts green waste, wood, and cardboard, it cannot handle plasterboard, mattresses, or large amounts of rubble. The booking system will redirect you to Balloo (Bangor) for these items.
- Fair Use Policy: Limited to 15 visits per year per household to ensure the service remains available for all residents.
- Last Entry: The gates close 10-15 minutes before the stated closing time.
- Assistance: Staff are available for advice on sorting, but health and safety regulations prevent them from assisting with manual lifting.
